Northern BC's capital — gateway to the north and hub of the Cariboo and Peace regions
What to know before you book
Prince George is the unofficial capital of northern British Columbia — a significant forestry and services city at the confluence of the Fraser and Nechako Rivers. It's the largest city in northern BC and a natural hub for travellers heading north on Highway 97 toward the Alaska Highway, west on Highway 16 (Yellowhead Highway) toward Prince Rupert, or east toward Jasper.
The Two Rivers Art Gallery is an excellent regional cultural institution. Tabor Mountain Ski Resort (25 min east) provides winter recreation. Prince George is also a key access point for Bowron Lake Provincial Park (world-famous canoe circuit) and the Cariboo region.
